Software Engineer

This position will be required to develop new product modules in support of the Contact Management Center (CMC) platform, which is a Windows-based application that utilizes multi-threading programming and operates in a client-server environment. Additional programming development is necessary to enhance the CMC platform to support the existing system functionality that resides on our original platform as well as developing new capabilities that are possible with this new platform. In addition to new development programming, this position will be required to develop the Product and Design Specifications for any new development. Additional responsibilities will include the performance of functional testing of the code for quality assurance purposes as well as providing sustaining engineering and support responsibilities for the CMC platform.

Principal Duties and Activities

In the onset, this person will be assigned bug fixes to get familiar with the system and its architecture. Once they are familiar with the system, they will be assigned a specific CMC module development or functional testing and support assignment.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements

The ideal candidate will be required to have a strong working knowledge of C, C++, MFC, WIN32, ODBC, SQL, and Java in a Windows environment. Program editing knowledge required using Visual.Net. Also network application and web programming as well as relational database systems experience are required. Service application programming and PBX/ACD switch knowledge is a plus. B.S. in Computer Science/Related Field or 5+ Years of demonstrated experience in software development is required.

This person will be required to work independently on their assignments as well as be a team player. This position is a full-time position at Startel’s headquarters in Irvine, CA between the hours of 8am to 5pm. Good attendance is required. This person must have the ability to get along with co-workers and supervisors.

Field Engineer

Provide highly visible customer support through the performance of on-site installation, servicing and repair of complex equipment and systems. Checks out and approves operational quality of system equipment. Instructs customers in the operation and maintenance of the system. Serves as company liaison, providing administrative and technical assistance to customers on assigned projects. Interprets customers’ needs and clarifies if the responsibility for problem resolution falls to sales personnel, customer support reps, or engineers.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements

College degree or equivalent experience is preferred. Requires a minimum of 2 years of related experience. Basic knowledge of Windows operating systems, databases, and networking required. Telephony knowledge helpful. 80% travel is required.

Technical Support Engineer

This individual will be responsible for high-level support of all Startel products. This will involve working with customers as well as other members of the team in resolving technical issues in a fast-paced environment. Individual will work with customers face to face as well as providing telephone support; must be very customer oriented. Individual will lead customer training sessions, attend user group meetings, and provide sales support. Will interact extensively with other departments providing training, testing and feedback on product. This position is key to ensuring we meet our goal to provide quality products, service and support to our customers and field representatives.

Principal Duties and Activities

This individual will provide tier 2 and 3 technical support to our customer base. In addition, they will provide technical support to Field Service Engineers and Sales. They will manage trouble ticket/trouble activity process to ensure quick and accurate resolution in a timely manner. Participate in after hours on call support. Work with other departments to QA, alpha and beta testing of products. Provide training courses internally as well as work directly with customers. Some on-site customer support may be required. Attendance and presentations at user group meetings.

Leadership Responsibility

As a senior technical support engineer you will be required to act as a group leader for approximately 15 indirect reports. You must be able to maintain a highly professional manner while under pressure and time constraints.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements

B.S. degree, working knowledge of Windows operating systems and networking. Familiarity with telephony protocols, relational databases specifically SQL, and basic troubleshooting experience. Good written and verbal communication skills. Experience with either Switch/ACD or Voicemail Systems is a plus.
